… I started listening to Audio Books

So technically it’s spring break so I have no homework to be doing! Yayy!

Loving Audio Books!

I wanted to post about the activity I’m trying out though, which is listening to audio books. I’ve had a few books that I’ve wanted to read lately but have mostly given up having to read for pleasure. I mostly do it on trips or in the summer, but recently have been missing the past time immensely. It’s hard though when you love knitting as well as many other activities, there’s only so much time for hobbies!

I had the brilliant idea at one point to start listening to “books on tape” (although there aren’t actual tapes these days). I normally knit while I’m watching television but often get too absorbed into my stitches to really get a good idea of what’s going on in the movie or tv series. It’s not that I’m not paying attention it’s that I can’t physically keep my eyes on the screen and will miss key pieces of the plot. Audio books have the entire plot in what you can hear. It’s perfect for knitting! The knitting “zone” I get into is the perfect place to be in to listen to audio books. The perfect amount of focus to follow along without getting to distracted or too bored. I love this new multitasking activity and definitely recommend it! I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to really get into the books or follow along but knitting+audio books is perfect!

Please enjoy the tantalizing image below of the project I have under construction!

Some final notes:

The books I’m currently enjoying include the entire series the HBO series “Game of Thrones” is based off of, The Hunger Games Series, and the Eragon series. All books that have good reviews so I know they will be easy to listen to instead of read.

Also, Audio books+Gym has yet to be a successful activity, but I might give that another try.

  1. I’m a big fan of audiobooks, I find it’s the easiest way to tackle all the books I want to read when I don’t have the time to sit down and read them all somewhere comfortable and quiet. I love to knit and listen, especially to match my book to what I’m knitting, Agatha Christie and Miss Marple always feels right for mittens or similar!
I use them in the gym too, because if it’s a book I’m really caught up in, I don’t notice how tired or out of breath I’m getting quite as much!
Great post, you’re project looks interesting!
