… I made a Dexter Costume

As I described my Black Swan costume, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to share my Dexter Victim costume. While much less effort, this costume had as much or more popularity than the Black Swan one. People who watch Dexter are very appreciative of this costume, and there are more out there than you’d think . People who don’t recognize what you are will soon feel left out after most people start raving about your outfit.

I suppose this costume would go much better with someone dressed as Dexter himself, but we put this together last minute and had no time to find a man to play the role.

So here it is:

Put on minimal clothing, whatever you’re comfortable with. I felt the need to cover my midriff, but in a lot of Dexter situations it’s just the essentials being covered, as modeled by lovely best friends. Cover your clothed parts in saran wrap. It didn’t take more than one roll for all three of us. Find a source of fake blood; this can be store bought, or a food coloring, cornstarch, water combo works as well. Apply an ample amount. (Here we did not do as well as we’d liked to. We had a shortage of fake blood so had to put a minimal amount). Put one or two layers of saran wrap over the fake blood to seal it in, and so that you’re not sticky. I chose to model a saran wrap headband as Dexter will often hold the head down that way.  Somehow apply a cut to your right cheek, Dexter style. You could do this many ways, we just used a red washable crayola marker.  There you have it! You’ve just been murdered by Dexter!
